Our client was a well-known worldwide celebrity, who was the target of a digital stalker who obtained her private email address from a data broker, and began sending alarming messages that at time indicated an awareness of where she was located at the time the email was sent.
We intervened:
- We performed a forensic analysis to determine how he was able to locate the geography of our client. We identified and neutralized the threat axis.
- We used other forensic tools to affirmatively identify the attacker and worked with our client’s attorney to craft a proposed restraining order that was most likely to be approved by a judge.
- With our client and counsel’s approval, we researched the family of the stalker. Finding that he had parents who were apparently respected members of the community. We contacted them with evidence of what their son had done, and they became an ally in assuring that the behavior was not repeated.
Outcome
Our client received no further communications from the stalker, we worked with her to reinforce her digital security, and the matter ended withing two weeks.
